South Okanagan Breweries

Tin Whistle Brewing opened in 1995 as the first microbrewery in the South Okanagan, a true pioneer in regional craft beer. Named after the first locomotive on the historic Kettle Valley Railway, the brewery has delivered innovative, preservative-free brews made with local ingredients for over three decades.

Today, Tin Whistle is owned by Alexis and Tim, who have taken the brewery into an exciting new chapter. Operating out of Penticton’s historic Cannery Trade Centre, they made history on Earth Day 2021 by becoming B.C.’s first certified carbon-neutral brewery. As the fan base for local craft beer rages on, Alexis, Tim, and their team are moving full steam ahead, combining fan-favourite brews with a commitment to protecting the planet.

The name of the brewery is intended to represent the vitality of the region, the importance of the transportation network to the interior, the pride of residents and the countless recreational and lifestyle opportunities available to anyone along the corridor.  From skiing, snowboarding and golf to watersports, baseball, hockey, soccer, cycling, running, hiking to music festivals and events and everything in between, the Highway 97 corridor is a virtual playground particularly in British Columbia.  The communities along this important highway represent much of British Columbia’s interior population and provides unprecedented access to the spectacular mountains, valleys, lakes, rivers and associated recreational opportunities the Province is famous for.  Highway 97 beer will be involved in this lifestyle, the people, the events and the overall culture of this Highway 97 corridor.

Yellow Dog Brewing is a family-run craft brewery celebrated for its high-quality, award-winning beers and dog-themed branding, which started in Port Moody in 2014 and expanded to a second location in Penticton in 2024. Both locations offer a laid-back, welcoming atmosphere with a focus on community, featuring tasting rooms, patios, and a variety of core and seasonal beers.

Neighbourhood Brewing was a concept between friends, years in the making. Our group of lifelong friends took a group trip to Penticton to enjoy the sun and scenery and fell in love. Abandoned Rail Brewing Co. is a family-owned farm brewery located on the Naramata Bench in Penticton, BC, which grows its own barley on-site and is renowned for its European-inspired beers crafted by a certified German brewmaster. Bringing great Craft Beer to Summerland

Detonate Brewing is one of British Columbia’s newest breweries dedicated to brewing great tasting, craft beer. Detonate is a very small brewery in comparison to many of the other breweries that are in the region.
